Just a Bitch
So there's this coworker of mine that's making my job just awful. My boss is on summer vacation w/ her family for a month, so this coworker (let's call her MB) has been left in charge of the toy store that I work at. I started work there about 2 weeks ago, and even from the very start she's been an ignorant jerk. She treats me as if I am someone who is way below her, and just today, she had the nerve to spazz at me (for no apparent reason). I can't do anything because 1) it would be immature and 2) she pretty much has all the power.
What can I do to feel better? What can I do to make the situation from getting any worse? Help!
-Lana.
Our answers here are pretty much unanimous, you haven't been there long enough for you to lay claim to any certain rights and that you are probably still in a probabtionary period. MB probably has control issues now that your boss is away so without doing something illegal(which we never encourage or recommend) we all believe you should just quit and leave her holding the bag. Let her explain why you left and make sure you explain it to manager upon their return. ~Oscar
Dear Lana,
Unless this is your all time dream job or you are an executive at FOA Schwarz, quit. Plain and simple. Quit and let MB handle everything herself from now until the real boss gets back. With any luck the real boss will contact upon her return to find out why you quit and then you can be honest with her and tell her how MB treated you and that it wasn't worth your time or effort to be abused that way. The boss may ask you back after chewing out MB or she may just side with MB and let you stay gone. If the latter is the case you wouldn't have been happy staying there anyway. In the meantime if you're strapped for cash you can always hold yard sales, car washes or set up a lemonade stand on the corner of a busy intersection. Either way do what is going to make you happy and don't let the Major Bitch get to you. |
